Congratulations to our Community Health Centers (CHCs) Peninsula Community Health Services (Washington) and Sea Mar Community Health Centers for being Fiscal Year 2024 Accelerating Cancer Screening Awardees!
On August 7, 2024, to mark National Health Center Week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS, awarded nearly $9 million to 18 HRSA-funded health centers to improve access to life-saving cancer screenings in underserved communities.
Health centers will partner directly with National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers to expedite patient access to cancer care and treatment.
As a not-for-profit health plan founded by CHCs to support the whole health of Washingtonians not traditionally served by insurance companies, Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) is proud to have Peninsula Community Health Services and Sea Mar Community Health Centers in our network of 21 CHCs.
Both CHCs will receive $500,000 awards to bolster access to life-saving cancer screenings. Appropriate screening and timely follow-up care help to detect cancer early and improve outcomes for patients.
