CHPW Team on KDNA in Yakima, WA

At CHPW, our local teams share information and resources in Community Health Centers (CHCs) and events across Washington State, and even on the radio! This week, CHPW’s Brisa Guajardo (Manager, Business Development) and Paula Barraza (CHPW Community Health Worker) joined KDNA’s Francisco Rios for our monthly segment on “Aquí y Allá” with KDNA 91.9 FM.

This Spanish-language public affairs program connects listeners in the Yakima Valley area (and beyond by way of online streaming at kdna.org) in every aspect of their lives through an educational and informational format.

A different CHPW staff member joins CHPW’s Brisa every month and we look forward to our informative hour-long on-air conversations with KDNA’s Francisco and the team.

General topics range from what to know if it’s your first time having health insurance to how having health care coverage goes beyond the doctor’s office. We also welcome listeners to call in with questions for our staff!

While Paula is an exciting new addition to the CHPW Community Health Worker team she is no stranger to working with community-based organizations in Yakima County.

When asked by the host how long Paula has been in Yakima Valley she paused, and with a smile in her voice answered “I have lived in this area for 30 years. I love this area! I know this area. That’s why I’m excited to work for CHPW and connect members with community resources here. We really do believe in the power of community.”

This time around, we explained how a Community Health Worker like Paula can help with even the most basic of needs, and we also shared last-minute reminders about the Apple Health Expansion program.

Every day we proudly have local team members like Brisa and Paula sharing important health care information in multiple languages, helping to connect Washingtonians with health care coverage and essentials, and ensuring we’re supporting the whole health of our members and communities across the state.
